Where We Surf
At Makai Surf School, we’re based in one of the most wave-rich stretches of North Goa. Depending on tides, wind, and swell conditions, we choose the best spot each day to give our students the most enjoyable and safe surfing experience. Here’s a quick look at the beaches we surf:
Arambol
A lively beach with a long stretch of sandy shoreline, Arambol usually offers soft, rolling waves—perfect for beginners. The mellow whitewater and consistent swell make it a great spot for learning the basics or warming up for more challenging sessions.
Mandrem
Quieter than Arambol, Mandrem offers clean waves and fewer crowds. The beachbreak here works well on mid to high tides and is ideal for refining paddling and pop-up skills in a peaceful setting.
Ashwem
Ashwem has longer, smoother waves and a gentle slope, making it perfect for practicing your stance and turns. It’s a favorite for our intermediate lessons, especially when the tide is right and the wind is light.
Morjim
With slightly more punchy waves, Morjim is a go-to when we’re looking to challenge our intermediate or returning students. The beach also holds its shape well during bigger swells, giving a glimpse of what it feels like to ride more powerful waves.
