Makai, founded by surfer Kiran Kumar, is Goa’s latest surf venture blending adventure, community, and the ocean spirit. With over a decade in the sport, Kiran—part of Mantra Surf Club and Surfing Swami Foundation—has led national contests, trained surfers across India, and pioneered SUP expeditions. At Makai, surfing is more than a sport—it’s a soulful journey toward sustainability and self-discovery.
Radhika Rashmi, co-partner at Makai, brings a rich blend of artistry, culture, and conscious living to the surf venture. With a background in self-development and conservation, and roots in an adventurous military upbringing, she infuses Makai with depth and meaning. Alongside Kiran, she envisions a journey that blends surfing with heritage, creativity, and community.

Hamza is your head instructor of surfing at Makai, here to make each session fun and memorable. He began surfing after volunteering at Mantra Surf Club—an adventure that changed his life. Curious and friendly, he brings great energy and conversation to every wave. Komal started her surfing journey with Mantra Surf School, where she met Kiran and the team. So soon she decided to volunteer for two months and gave her best to learn surfing. With her Hatha yoga practice and surfing, she is now excited to offer her experience to everyone. Vinod is our assistant surf instructor at Makai. Friendly, patient, and always ready to help, he supports every session by ensuring your safety and comfort in the water. Whether it’s your first wave or your tenth, Vinod’s calm presence and growing surf knowledge make learning smooth and enjoyable. Abhi is an assistant surf instructor at Makai, known for his energetic and encouraging nature. He’s always there with a smile, ready to help you paddle out, catch waves, and build confidence in the ocean. With a genuine love for the sea and a positive attitude, Abhi helps make every surf session fun and memorable. Pradeep is a surf enthusiast who has been surfing for over a year now. He brings in a lot of passion, a genuine interest to help others find the same stoke for surfing that he did.
