Ice Plunge

Cold Water. Conscious Breath. Recovery.

The Ice Plunge is a guided cold-water experience designed to complement an active surf and wellness lifestyle.

Cold-water immersion offers a controlled physical challenge and an opportunity to work with your breath, awareness and response to discomfort. It can be a refreshing addition to a routine that includes surfing, movement and physical activity.

The experience is adapted according to the individual and the format of the session.

The practice can help you explore:
  • Breath awareness and control
  • Staying calm under physical stress
  • Mindful response to discomfort
  • A refreshing post-activity experience
  • Body and mental awareness
  • A conscious approach to recovery
Yoga & Surfing

Prepare your body. Move better. Recover better.

Surfing requires mobility, balance, coordination, strength and awareness.

Yoga can complement these demands by working with areas that are regularly involved in surfing, including the shoulders, upper back, spine, hips, hamstrings and ankles.

At Makai, yoga is approached as more than stretching. The practices are designed to develop greater awareness of how you move, breathe and respond to physical activity.

Whether you practise before getting in the water, after a surf, or simply as part of your day, the intention is to help you move with greater awareness and connect more deeply with your body.

You do not need to surf to join. The surf connection shapes some of the movement and recovery work, but the practice stands on its own.
