Yes. Beginner lessons take place in shallow water where you can generally stand comfortably. You should still be comfortable being in the water, and the session will depend on the conditions and your comfort level.

Suitability can depend on the individual and the type of session. If you're booking for a child, an older participant or anyone you are unsure about, send us their age before booking and we'll help you figure out the right next step.

If you've already surfed, tell us what you're comfortable doing and what you'd like to improve. We'll help you identify the most suitable current option rather than automatically putting you into a beginner session.

There isn't one number that works for everyone. Progress depends on things like your comfort in the water, how often you surf, the conditions you practise in and what you mean by “good”.

Private lesson availability can vary. If that's what you're looking for, contact us before booking with your preferred dates and experience level and we'll confirm what is currently possible.

Wear something you're comfortable getting wet in and can move freely in. If you're unsure what is suitable for your session, ask us before you arrive and we'll point you in the right direction.

If you're coming as a group, send us your dates, group size and a rough idea of everyone's surf experience. We'll let you know what can realistically be arranged for the group.

You don't need to start buying surf equipment before you've worked out what you actually need. What makes sense will depend on the course, your experience and whether you plan to continue surfing afterwards.

You're welcome to ask us before travelling with your own board. Let us know what you're bringing and when you're visiting so any storage arrangements can be confirmed in advance.

Photo and video availability can vary. If it's something you'd like from your session, ask when you book and we'll confirm whether it can be arranged and whether any separate charge applies.

Makai currently has two different stay experiences to explore: a Premium Surf Resort Experience and the Surf Hostel. Which one makes sense depends on the kind of trip you're planning and how you prefer to stay.

You can also explore Stand-Up Paddleboarding and Yoga with Makai. They're good options if you want to spend time on the water or add something different around your surf sessions.

Our current operating schedule is best confirmed directly with us, as availability can change through the year. If you're planning a trip around specific dates, contact us before making your travel plans.

The current 3 Day Surf Package is ₹8,999 and the 5 Day Surf Package is ₹14,499. Both include your stay, surfing, one Stand-Up Paddleboarding session and one Yoga session.
